Our Jailbirds have been sent down to contemplate their crimes while raising funds to pay their bail. They are counting on your support. Their freedom and reputation depend on it!

Story

Some of Dundee’s best business leaders and influencers have agreed to be locked up for Maggie's. Armed with a phone, a laptop and our powers of persuasion, we need your help to raise bail and get free.

Bail has been set at £1,000, and I’ve been sent down to contemplate my 'crimes' and go about raising funds to pay my bail.

Having traded in my freedom for Maggie's, the challenge I face is to muster all my powers of persuasion and call on the collective goodwill of my network to raise funds for Maggie's Dundee. My freedom—and my reputation—depend on it!

Unlock the Leaders is sure to be fun for everyone involved, but let's not forget the important reason behind the event: to raise funds for Maggie's Dundee.

For many people living in Tayside, Angus and North East Fife, Maggie's Dundee is a beacon of hope, offering a unique programme of practical and psychological support, available free of charge to people with cancer, and to their family and friends.

In the past year, Maggie’s Dundee has welcomed over 12,000 visits, provided thousands of hours of 1-to-1 psychological and specialist cancer support, and secured over £2.1 million in financial gains for local people.

Maggie’s centres are places to find practical advice and emotional support; places to meet other people in a calm and friendly environment where people with cancer find the hope, determination, and the resources they need to cope with one of the toughest challenges any of us is likely to face. Maggie’s Dundee is one of 24 Maggie's Centres across the UK.

With over 50% of the population being diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetime, it has never been more essential to have the support of Maggie’s alongside medical care. Our own research shows that 3 in 5 people find the mental impact of diagnosis harder than the physical—and that’s why our programme of support is designed to deliver the best possible practical and psychological care.

Thank you for supporting Unlock the Leaders—please join in and give what you can to support our efforts. It’s only because of the kindness and generosity of supporters like you, through activities like this and gifts in wills, that we can provide the best possible cancer support and continue to build more centres across the UK.

Thank you.
