Verity's attempt on Kilimanjaro for Indigo Children's Fund

Verity's attempt on Kilimanjaro · 1 March 2023
Indigo Children's Fund work with local individuals and small groups on the ground striving to improve their communities and the lives of their children by offering financial support and construction management to help achieve their goals.
This year, Indigo Children's Fund plan to be involved in building 3 learning centres in rural Cambodia, where state funded education is significantly lacking. Many children here, particularly girls, do not progress to secondary education. To enhance the quality of education for students in rural areas, there is a move for NGOs to work alongside government schools by providing supplementary classes in learning centres, that ultimately become a centre for the community. This is a tried and tested successful approach to improving the education and lives of these underprivileged children. The communities are excited and behind these and they will each bring increased access to education and greater opportunities for many children.
One of these planned centres is in Popel and will be built in close proximity to the government school. The centre will provide lunch following the end of the state school day and then classes in the afternoon. The total cost of this project will be approximately £40,000 and will benefit about 175 children.
