Story

Really proud to be taking part in the Step Up for Suicide Prevention Challenge this September, supporting a cause that means a lot to me, my family and my friends.

I’m taking on 750,000 steps across September to raise awareness for Suicide Prevention Month and, hopefully, help start some conversations that really matter.

This is something that feels very personal to me. I’ve had periods in my own life where things have felt incredibly difficult, and there were times when the daily routine of needing to get up and go for a walk with my dog was the only thing that got me out of bed in the morning. Those walks gave me a reason to get outside, to keep moving and, on some days, simply to get through the day.

I know how much of a difference it can make to feel like you’re not alone and that there is support there when you need it. It’s also made me realise just how many people quietly struggle without anyone knowing and despite how they appear to others.

Suicide affects far too many people, and behind every statistic is someone’s life.

I know 750,000 steps is a lot 😂 but if I can use something I love doing to raise a bit of money, awareness and hopefully make even a small difference, then me (and Tarka!) will put the miles in.

If you’re able to donate, I’d really appreciate it but even sharing this or having a conversation about suicide and mental health can help.

Keep talking, keep checking in on each other and remind people that they’re never as alone as they might feel. ❤️
