Story
The walk will take place on Sunday the 12th October, starting at the Select Car Leasing Stadium and ending at the Southern Regional Women's League fixture between Woodley United Women and Reading FC Women, at Bulmershe Pavilion.
Anyone and everyone are invited to be a part of this walk (including dogs) that will be approximately 4.5 miles long. There will be checkpoints along the way to allow opportunity for people to have refreshments, toilet breaks and join/leave the walk. We encourage participants to wear the colour purple to symbolise No5 Young Peoples #BePurpleDay campaign. It would be amazing to see as many people as possible wearing purple alongside the Reading FC badge!
Checkpoint 1: South Reading Leisure Centre, Northumberland Avenue, RG2 8DF.
Checkpoint 2: University of Reading, Pepper Lane, RG6 6UR.
Meet time will be 9:30am at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, at the Reading FC Fan Store.
The walk will then begin promptly at 10:00am.
Walk To Woodley was planned through the collaboration and partnership of Reading FC Women, Reading FC Community Trust, No5 Young People, Talking Royals and Star Supporters Trust At Reading!
With world mental health awareness day being on the 10th of October, we wanted to organise an event to promote the fantastic work that local people in Reading do to support people with their mental health.
This is why we have chosen to support and raise funds for No5 Young People!
No5 provides free, confidential, specialist mental health support, counselling and outreach for 11-25 year olds across the RG postcode area.
Since 1971, they have supported over 35,000 young people and families through longer-term 121 counselling, mental health education, Creative Expressive Wellbeing programmes, School Transition support, targeted support to prevent school exclusion, and Young Voices social action, campaigning and change-making.
Your support will help No5 provide even more counselling, outreach and mental health support services to local young people who are struggling.
Demand for their service has never been higher, with more young people than ever before needing help.
If you are unable to donate, please share to you friends, family and network to promote the message. We would love to have as many people involved in the walk as possible.
Thank you for your support! We look forward to seeing you on the 12th of October!
