LNADJ and The Tribe are embarking on an exciting challenge to summit Mount Kilimanjaro for fun, fitness, and purpose. We'll be raising funds to change and save the lives of children and their families in Tanzania & Uganda.

Story

Following on from Dancing for Life back in 2022, this time you'll find me climbing a mountain! For life, for love, for fun, for personal all-round health and well-being, and for disadvantaged children in Africa! Yes, that's right, in February 2025, I am going to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, the world's highest freestanding mountain, which is 5895 metres high, with the charity, Last Night a DJ Saved my Life (LNADJ) and The Tribe Experience.

I have been following the progress of LNADJ and the work they have done to raise money for charities in different parts of the world since soon after they were set up fourteen years ago. I have always been drawn to their values and the musical and creative aspect to their charity work. I was inspired by the climb they did up Kilimanjaro in 2018 to raise money for Angel's Gate Children's Village for street involved boys, and Feather's Tale Children's Village for children with special needs in Tanzania (see below for more information about these charities). So, at the start of this year when they announced they were arranging another Kilimanjaro climb for these charities, this time in collaboration with The Tribe Experience and the One Love Project for children in Uganda, I jumped at the chance!

As the months have progressed, and I have been finding out more and more about the projects we are raising money for, I have felt an ever growing strong feeling that I should be doing this. Despite also learning how much of a challenge this actually will be - in all kinds of ways - physically, mentally and spiritually.

Follow my video diary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeWSN-LKCEM, which, so far, documents the first four months of my training - literally from hardly any steps a day, to getting my body, head and heart into gear, and slowly and gradually getting prepared for my altitude centre test in September!

Even though the climb is not until February 2025, the fund-raising starts now!

I have already felt blessed by the love, support and encouragement you have all shown me to help me get up that mountain! (and back down again!). I am asking you to join me in helping some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children and their families in our world today.

Charity information:

LAST NIGHT A DJ SAVED MY LIFE FOUNDATION:

Angels Gate, Tanzania: The street-involved boys at Angels Gate have had challenging life experiences. LNADJ’s project Get Equipped is essential to their creative education and gives them choices outside of traditional educational formats - vital when you’ve had adverse life experiences and find school challenging. We’ll be raising funds to take even more music equipment out to the boys so they can continue their creative education.

Feathers Tale Children's Village, Tanzania: LNADJ has worked with Feathers Tale for seven years, witnessing first hand the impact of their life-changing projects. This organisation focuses on children with special needs and disabilities, supporting children, young people, and their families to create meaningful change. LNADJ has contributed significantly to Feathers Tale by building homes, funding medical assistance, providing education, wheelchairs, specialised equipment, and toys. LNADJ will construct two-bedroom houses for single-parent women and their children with special needs, creating a small village for families within Feathers Tale's grounds to ensure Feathers Tale can continue its vital work and grow to support even more families with special needs.

ONE LOVE PROJECT:

One Love Project, Uganda: One Love Project empowers vulnerable and impoverished children in East Africa by providing long-term opportunities, including quality education, medical care, talent development, and sustainability programs. They aim to help the most vulnerable children and people escape poverty and build a healthy, happy, and sustainable future for their families and communities. For The One Love Project, donations will cover: essential expenses such as teachers' salaries, specialised care at Our Little Tribe, providing three meals a day for all 220 students, supporting the children's families by providing food and household items to help them maintain clean and healthy homes.
