Story
In October 2026, I will be joining a team of dedicated trekkers for St Catherine’s Hospice (Crawley). We will embark on an extraordinary journey a life-changing trek across the ancient and captivating landscapes of Cambodia.
This adventure is far more than a trip, it's a powerful mission. Each step taken through the temples of Angkor Wat and the vibrant countryside will raise vital funds to ensure the hospice can continue its essential work. St Catherine’s provide pioneering, compassionate end-of-life care and support to families across Sussex and East Surrey, relying entirely on community generosity.
I will be pushed to personal limits physically and emotionally, we will share stories and bring back inspiration for others. This challenge symbolises the difficult journeys that those facing terminal illness walk every day and the profound difference it makes when they are not alone.
By supporting this trek, you will be empowering local adventurers to achieve something incredible and directly fund the specialised care, emotional support and dignified comfort that St Catherine's offers freely to its community.
Be part of my journey. Support every step. Help ensure no one faces loss alone.
My Story
Last autumn my wonderful, vibrant mum was in her final stages of cancer. We were in despair and faced with the certain fear and heartache, unsure how to navigate the path ahead.
We were met by an extraordinary kindness. St Catherine’s Hospice in Crawley opened their doors and their hearts to us.
They didn’t just provide medical care, they provided a sanctuary. For my mum, they offered a delicate touch, a gentle word and the profound dignity of being seen as a person, not just a patient. Her room was filled with warmth and her last days were filled with peace and family
For me and my family, they offered something just as precious. They gave us space to cry, held our hands when we trembled and quietly made sure, we remembered to eat and sleep. They guided us with such compassion that we never, not for a single moment, felt alone. In our deepest sorrow, they were our anchor.
This is the magic of St Catherine’s. They believe that nobody should face death and loss alone They rely entirely on donations to make this belief a reality for families across the country
Today, I’m walking forward in my mum’s memory, but I’m not walking away from the place that cared for her. I am championing it. St Catherine’s has never needed our support more. The cost of providing this pioneering, compassionate end-of-life care is immense, but the cost of losing it is unthinkable.
Your donation, no matter the size, is a direct gift of comfort. It’s the funding for a nurse’s reassuring smile, for a counsellor’s listening ear, for a family like mine to find their strength when they feel they have none left.
Together, we can ensure that St Catherine’s Hospice continues to be that beacon of light for every family walking a difficult path. Please, help me honour my mum’s memory by giving others the same profound gift we received, the gift of love, care and peace when it matters most.
Thank you
