Story
Now more than ever, people struggling from mental health problems need our support. In the UK, 1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem this year. Mind needs your help so that they can be there for anyone who needs them, on the phone, in local communities and campaigning for change.
I would be grateful if you could join me this November in the fight for better mental health by donating to my fundraiser. Your donation will help to make sure that information and support is available for everyone.
“I don’t like myself today, I don’t want to let anyone down, I just can’t face the day, I’m not good enough. Well I’m talking but no one can hear me, I feel like an imposter, my thoughts are scrambled in my head, I can feel my heart pounding and I feel like I’m suffocating. I feel so desperately low, scared, anxious, what am I going to do. I feel like I’m losing it, but hang on, I know I’m not mad, I’m just having a bad day.”
I wonder how many of you reading this can relate to it, I know I can, and yes I’ve had many a bad day when I’ve had to dig really deep to find a way forward.
However, I do not have a mental illness and can only imagine the effect on the lives of people who feel like this every day and who are affected by mental health illnesses. The deeply depressed and those experiencing suicidal thoughts. The many diagnosed with bipolar disorders, schizophrenia or personality disorder and those suffering with PTSD, Alzheimers or any other mental health illnesses that plague our world today.
I do however know people close to me who do struggle on a daily basis with mental health challenges that significantly affect their lives and I bet you do to. Maybe it’s you or a family member, a friend, colleague or maybe it’s a stranger who is suffering silently on their own.
How do people who suffer with mental illness get the support and help they need to find someone who will listen, emphasise and guide them with respect and care.
I’ve been reading about Mind and the extraordinary work that Mind does to help people who are struggling with mental health. Mind believe that no one should live with mental illness alone.
This got me thinking, how can I help?
How could I become even a small part for change. Maybe I could raise some money for Mind to help people with mental illness get access to the amazing support team that Mind is.
Movement & mindful practices have been the biggest saviour for my mental health since I was 13 years old and that still stands true today. I can think of no better way to join the fight for better mental health than to encourage others to do the same.
On a final note I believe it’s a good Idea to have some accountability. so, if you want to practice yoga with me on some of my sessions then message me and I’ll send you my schedule. Let’s all get better at nurturing our mental health and let’s do it together.
Thank you.
