Hi, and thanks so much for visiting my JustGiving page.

I work for Home-Start Newcastle Borough, a small local charity supporting families across Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. We offer practical and emotional support to parents with children under 12—helping them through the tough times that raising a young family can bring.

Last year (2024), we came frighteningly close to closure due to severe funding challenges. Thanks to sheer determination and community support, we pulled through—but the threat hasn't disappeared. That’s why I’m doing my bit to help towards raising £4,000 by the end of August to protect the service from another crisis.

Although I have played badminton for over 20 years, I am not fit, and I cannot run, but I have been inspired to start the Couch to 5K.

Eeek!

Basically, if my son Adam can complete the London Marathon, then surely I can get to completing 5k!

I have just ran my first week, and I am so impressed with myself that I actually completed all 3 runs, as I struggle to commit to exercise of any sort.

If I complete it, I promise I will join Richard Peers on one of his Park Runs.

Every pound raised will help Home-Start continue to support over 100 local parents each year—offering home-based support through our incredible team of trained volunteers. We help families build confidence, develop resilience, and feel less alone.
