Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
On the 18th September 2025 Lee and I will begin our journey to climb Kilimanjaro.
Together, as mother and son, we’re setting out on an incredible — and emotional — journey: climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in support of St Catherine’s Hospice.
This challenge is so much more than just a physical climb. Between us, we’ve experienced deep and personal loss — my brother (Lee’s uncle), my nephew (Lee’s cousin), and together we’ve lost close friends and colleagues far too soon. Their memories are with us every day, and they are the reason we feel so passionately about raising funds for this incredible hospice.
St Catherine’s Hospice provides comfort, dignity, and compassion to people in their final days, and vital support to the families around them. We’ve seen just how important that care is — and we want to help ensure it continues for others who will sadly walk this same path.
For me, this climb is daunting. I’m 63 and to be honest, I’m anxious — even scared — about the challenge ahead. But I know I couldn’t do this without Lee beside me. His strength, support, and determination are what will help carry me up that mountain.
We’re climbing in memory of those we’ve lost, and for the many more who still need the care of a place like St Catherine’s. If you can, please consider sponsoring us — every donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference.
And if you’re not in a position to give, cheering us on or simply sharing our story means more than you know.
This is for love, for memory, and for hope.
With heartfelt thanks,
Lee and Wendy xxx
