In Memory of Nichola Povey – Supporting St Catherine’s Hospice
We are the Community Safety Team at West Sussex County Council, and we are fundraising for St Catherine’s Hospice in Pease Pottage in memory of our much-loved and deeply missed colleague, Nichola Povey.
Nichola was a truly remarkable person. Her warmth, positive outlook and caring nature shone wherever she went. She was a kind, generous and supportive friend and colleague and she will be missed greatly by us all.
Nichola had a wonderful 28-year career with Sussex Police, where she worked in the control room, as an investigator, and later became the Force’s first Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Navigator. Her brilliant work in shaping this pioneering project was recognised nationally and earned her divisional congratulations — a testament to her dedication and impact.
She later joined the Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner’s Office, where she led on parts of the Safer Streets portfolio, before joining us at West Sussex County Council, leading on the Young People’s Knife Intervention Project.
She approached this new challenge with enthusiasm, excitement, and as always, brimming with ideas. Nichola was tenacious in her advocacy for young people and cared deeply about doing what was right, her passion for working with some of the most vulnerable people in our community was evident in everything she did.
Nichola was wise, compassionate, and dedicated — qualities that made her perfect for the roles that she undertook and truly valued and respected by all who worked with her.
St Catherine’s Hospice provided Nichola and her family with exceptional care, comfort, and dignity during the most difficult time. We are fundraising to honour her memory and to support the hospice in continuing their vital work for others.
Please Help Us Honour Nichola:
Every donation, no matter the size, will help St Catherine’s continue to provide compassionate care to those who need it most. Your support in honouring Nichola’s memory in this way means the world to us — and would have meant the world to Nichola.
Thank you for helping us celebrate her life and legacy in such a meaningful way.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I’m fundraising for St Catherine’s Hospice in Crawley; a local charity with a big ambition – to make sure nobody faces death and loss alone. The hospice relies on donations to offer pioneering end of life care and support to people in Sussex and East Surrey. Any donation you can give will mean a lot to me and make a direct difference to families facing terminal illness. St Catherine’s has never needed our support more. Together, let’s make sure the hospice can continue to provide vital care.
