Ian's fundraiser for The Not Forgotten

Ian Pomeroy is raising money for The Not Forgotten

45 Day Wheelbarrow yomp around the UK coastline - 1 September to 15 October 2026

Through social activities, day outings, respite breaks & challenges, The Not Forgotten transforms the lives of veterans and serving military personnel living with injury, illness or isolation by bringing people together, lifting spirits and restoring dignity and confidence.

Story

Mad Idea. Great Cause. 300 Miles of Purpose.

I’m about to do something slightly ridiculous: Push a wheelbarrow 300 miles around the coastline of the British Isles. A mad idea yes… but a great cause to support our Armed Forces veterans and serving personnel through The Not Forgotten, one of the UK’s oldest military charities.

This isn’t just a long yomp (walk) with a wheelbarrow, it’s a way to stand with the men and women who’ve carried far heavier burdens than I or the barrow ever will. Every mile is a reminder: service doesn’t end when the uniform comes off, and neither should our support. Written Testimonials

Why It Matters

I never thought I’d see my face on a wheelbarrow, but I’m incredibly proud to be part of this amazing fundraising effort.

A wheelbarrow carries weight, keeps moving forward, and helps lighten the load, which feels fitting for what Not Forgotten does every day for veterans and serving personnel.

Proud to play a small part in supporting something so meaningful. Caroline Beazley

Because for many veterans, the hardest fight doesn’t end when they leave the frontline. ‘It begins there’. Living with life-changing injuries, facing isolation and carrying unseen scars.

The Not Forgotten helps restore connection, rebuild confidence, rediscover camaraderie and deliver dignity back into their lives, thus helping to ensure that no one is left behind.

This journey is a small way of saying: We remember. We care. We act.

The Challenge

· Start: 1st September 2026, Penhale Point, North coast of Cornwall

· Duration: 45 days

· Distance: 300 miles of British Isles coastline

· Finish: 15th October 2026, Penhale Point, North coast of Cornwall

· Terrain: Sand, cliffs, sun, wind, rain, and the occasional seagull ambush

Visiting all four corners of the UK, I’ll meet veterans in unlikely places, host station fundraising collections, deliver a matchday ball to UK sporting fixtures, and push through every obstacle, with your support powering each mile.

There will be tough days. Days when my legs feel like lead, the wheelbarrow protests, and the weather seems determined to win. But this isn’t supposed to be easy, because for many veterans, the hardest battles happen long after service ends.
