Thank you for checking out our story. We are a group of wholetime firefighters from Kings Lynn, White Watch and for many reasons we wanted to undertake a local challenge to raise some much needed funds for charity. We all have personal reasons for raising money for Redwings Horse Sanctuary, we are all animal lovers and some of us have horses ourselves or have connections to horses in our past and present. As firefighters we often raise money for our firefighters charity or mental health charities, which are all super important and we are all connected to, but more often than not animal charities get overlooked.

One of our important roles within the fire service is animal rescue, and yes your all thinking 'cat stuck up a tree', yes we do help those unfortunate souls, but we carry out many large animal rescues, which without Redwings we would not be as well trained to deal with. Redwings Horse Sanctuary are a partner agency for Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service and assist us with some hands on animal training, which is invaluable in us for-filling our roles and looking after animals that find themselves in difficult situations. Many of the animals that we work with at Redwings have found themselves in previous hardship and with the support of redwings are now educating us to help other horses and animals.

We are challenging ourselves to a 110 mile walk over four days, hiking the Norfolk Coast Path, from Great Yarmouth Pier to Kings Lynn North Fire Station and just to add to the challenge in Winter!! Woolly hats at the ready!! We hope to walk between 26-28 miles a day, staying overnight at our Coastal on-call fire stations.
