Story
April 2nd 2025 will mark 365 days into my alcohol-free journey. Increasing awareness around alcohol is therefore close to my heart and a cause I now care deeply about.
Alcohol has become so ingrained into our daily lives and normalised in nearly every occasion - be it, celebrating, socialising, mourning, relaxing or spending time with family.
It’s the 2nd most addictive substance in the world but still the only one where people will question you for not doing.
Alcohol Change UK’s mission is not to shame alcohol drinkers or eradicate it - but drive awareness of its effects.
They want to build a future in which people drink as a conscious choice, not a default; where the issues which lead to alcohol problems like poverty, mental health issues, homelessness are addressed; where those of us who drink too much, and our loved ones, have access to high-quality support whenever we need it, without shame or stigma.
