Will's fundraiser for Mind In Bradford

Will Worboys is raising money for Mind In Bradford

Team: Bradford City AFC fundraising for Mind In Bradford

Walk

Our vision is that no one in Bradford District and Craven has to face a mental health issue alone. We are an independent registered charity that is affiliated with national Mind but we rely on our own resources to provide local services to people of all-ages.

Story

"I’m raising money for Bradford Mind because they’re an organisation that I’ve got a lot of time for, both through my job and for more personal reasons.

Working for the NHS in acute mental health, I see how much organisations like Mind end up filling in the gaps when NHS services are stretched. We use their Personal Health Budgets to help people with really basic practical things when they leave hospital — things like a bed to sleep in or a phone so they can actually keep in contact with services.

I also regularly recommend their Guide-Line and Safe Spaces to people who are struggling and need someone to talk to. I recommend them wholeheartedly because I know the people at the other end are genuinely compassionate and will be there when somebody is having a really bad time.

I know that because I’ve been the person making that call myself.

A few years ago I used their services several times when I was really struggling. I don’t think it’s too far-fetched to say there were times when they helped keep me going, and I may not be here now without them.

So Bradford Mind is quite personal to me. I know what they do from working with people who need their help, but I also know what it feels like to be the person who needs it.

If you can throw a few couple of quid in, it would be awesome, thanks!"

Bradford City AFC is proud to launch an inspiring new community fundraising event, “Walk and Talk with the Bantams” – a unique 18 mile circular walk designed to celebrate our city, promote wellbeing, and support an essential cause.

Starting and finishing at the iconic Valley Parade, participants will embark on a memorable journey through some of Bradford’s most well-loved landmarks. The route takes in Centenary Square, passing through the World Heritage Site Saltaire, the historic Five Rise Locks, Shipley

Glen, Baildon Moor, Denso Marston Nature Reserve, and Lister Park, showcasing the very best of the district’s heritage and natural beauty.

Along the way there will be some planned pit stops to rest and connect with those walking. This walk provides a great opportunity to promote Mental Health in your organisation, a great opportunity for team building and connecting with people!

This event is all about more than just walking – it’s about connection. Whether you're chatting with fellow supporters, colleagues, or new friends along the way, “Walk and Talk with the Bantams” encourages open conversations around mental health while raising vital funds for Bradford District and Craven Mind, the Club’s official mental health partner.

Bradford District and Craven Mind's mission is to make sure that no one in our community has to face a mental health issue alone. They are an independent registered charity that is affiliated with national Mind but relies on their own resources to provide local services. Last year they supported over 17,000 local people!

We are fundraising to help them reach more people in our local area who need their vital support. Please consider supporting the Club and donating to BDC Mind.
