Story

This year, we're proud to be taking on the Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise money for Guide Dogs—a cause that’s incredibly close to our hearts.

We share our lives with a beautiful withdrawn guide dog, and through that, we’ve experienced first-hand just how extraordinary these dogs are. While she didn’t go on to work as a guide, she went through the same rigorous training and socialisation that prepares guide dogs to be steady, reliable partners. Living with her has given us a deep appreciation for the dedication, love, and skill that goes into every guide dog partnership.

Guide dogs are so much more than just assistance animals—they’re a lifeline. For someone living with sight loss, a guide dog can bring independence, confidence, and freedom. They open up the world again, helping people move through life safely and with dignity, while also offering unconditional companionship and joy.

But it takes a village to raise a guide dog. The process from playful puppy to fully qualified guide takes time, care, and significant funding. Without the generosity of the public, none of it would be possible.

That’s why we’re taking on the Royal Parks Half Marathon. Every step we take will help someone else take theirs—safely, independently, and with a wagging tail by their side.

If you’re able to support us, we’d be incredibly grateful. Whether you can give a little or a lot, every donation helps create more life-changing partnerships between people with sight loss and these amazing dogs.

Thank you so much for cheering us on and supporting Guide Dogs 🐾💛

Information:

Almost two million people in the UK are living with sight loss that has a significant impact on their daily lives. Of those, around 180,000 rarely leave their homes alone and lead lonely, isolated lives.

Guide Dogs works for a world where people with sight loss are never left out of life, for a world where being blind or partially sighted is not what defines you. A world with enough support to make the challenges of sight loss no barrier to fulfilling hopes and dreams.
