Story
PCiP spearheads Plymouth Drake Foundation's specific mission to eradicate the social injustice, ill-health and misery caused by child poverty in Plymouth.
It brings together the public, private and third sectors; acting in unison, we remain dedicated to making a difference throughout a young person's early life.
The issue of children living in poverty in Plymouth is both significant and worsening.
A child's life outcomes are wholly predictable depending on the ward they were born into. Today, some wards continue to experience levels of children living in poverty in excess of 35%. This cannot be right!
The initiative focuses in 3 key areas which build self-esteem and experience to help determine and improve a young person's future:
Inspiration - helping children to see beyond their immediate world
Aspiration - helping children to believe that they can achieve no matter what their background
Education - a toolkit of life skills
We need to break the generational poverty cycle
