We have made numerous trips to Marrakech this year as we were planning our wedding. The city and its people have captured our hearts with their hospitality, kindness, and generosity. We were therefore deeply saddened when, two weeks before our wedding, we woke to hear news that Morocco had suffered a large earthquake which had caused significant damage and loss of lives in the Atlas Mountains and surrounding area.

In the days that followed, we sought to confirm the various suppliers we had met - and indeed friends we had made - were safe. We then turned our thoughts to whether or not our wedding could proceed, and having considered what would be best for both our guests and the people of Morocco, we decided to proceed. We have seen first hand the vital role that tourism plays to the Moroccan economy, and therefore felt it was important for us to continue to support the dozens of suppliers working with us on delivering our wedding events.

We are keen to support those impacted in every way we can as there remains significant work to be done, so we are looking to raise money to support CARE International UK’s Morocco Earthquake fund.

CARE focuses on youth and disadvantaged groups in rural areas of the country. In the aftermath of the earthquake, CARE’s emergency response in Morocco prioritises women and girls, the elderly, families with young children, and those unable to access other emergency services. Their current priority is to provide meals, safe water supply, emergency shelter and medical support to families that have been impacted by the earthquake.

We encourage our friends and family to give generously to help support the work of CARE in the country that has been central to such an important event in our lives. Thank you for your support!
