Story
September is PMOS Awareness Month 💜🩵
PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome, formerly known as PCOS) affects around 1 in 8 women, yet it is still often misunderstood as simply a reproductive condition, associated mainly with periods, fertility, weight and excess hair. In reality, it is a complex hormonal and metabolic condition with a much wider impact on physical and emotional health.
There is currently no cure for PMOS, and treatment is largely focused on managing individual symptoms rather than the condition as a whole.
Symptoms vary considerably and can include hormonal imbalances, insulin resistance, fatigue, anxiety and mood changes, sleep problems, difficulties managing weight and fertility problems, as well as increased long-term metabolic and cardiovascular health risks. Many of these effects are invisible, so the impact on everyday life is often underestimated or dismissed, leaving women feeling unsupported and misunderstood.
For Verity's 30-day movement challenge, I'm taking on my own 30 Days of 30:
💜 30 miles of recorded walks
🩵 30 miles of bike rides
💜 30 days of activity
All completed over 30 days to raise money for Verity and, hopefully, a little more awareness and understanding of PMOS.
Any donations are very much appreciated. 💜🩵
