Fundraising for Woodlands Hospice Charitable Trust
Story
Well, I'm happy to report that we finished our Starlight Walk in 2 hours – yes, I know that the London Marathon can be completed in less than that but we ARE middle aged, non athletes you know!
The weather was lovely, the atmosphere was fantastic and we had a really good laugh along the way.
Between us we raised upwards of £1,000 in memory of our Dad in support of Woodlands Hospice so that’s great isn’t it?
Thank you to those who have already sponsored us – those of you who haven’t, it’s not too late! Please consider whether you can, it really would be much appreciated.
As many friends and colleagues know, our Dad was supported through Woodlands during his illness, had a couple of admissions to the palliative care ward, had superlative home care from Dr Ged Corcoran when Dad was in the last days of his life and then the Hospice supported Mum into her bereavement.
As a family we have continued to support Woodlands as one of ‘our’ charities and we were pleased to undertake the walk in Dad’s name – Frank Fitzgerald. It was the fourth anniversary of his death on 27 February 2009 and we all still miss him more than words can say.
It would be fantastic if we could raise even more money for this wonderful Hospice, just one of many in Merseyside and Cheshire Cancer Network I do appreciate, but one which holds a special place in my heart.
