Story

Crazy or just stupid..........the jury is still out!

Well there is a secret we have that we are afraid will be discovered at the start of the Virgin London Marathon........ NO it's nothing seedy or crazy like that!!!!!!!

Here it is ..................................................................................................................... we are not (really) runners!!!!!

In fact, I am sure that at the start line other runners will be giving us that look (you know the look, you’ve given it) like “What are you two chaps doing here?” Overweight, unhealthy and the complete opposite of what you would expect to see at the start of a gruelling 26.2 miles, we do not look like typical runners! We never ran at high school except for chasing girls and running behind the bike sheds for a sneaky cigarette! We have let our 20's pass by without ever lacing up a pair of trainers (only things laced were our drinks with copious amounts of alcohol) and we have not got a clue about running gear at all, so why in our mid 30's are we now deciding to run a marathon?

Well it's all in the aid of charity and that charity is Phab Kids - www.phabkids.co.uk With a little help from you however small will help raise money for a great charity.

Phab aims to promote and encourage people with and without physical disabilities to come together on equal terms, to achieve complete integration within the wider community and to make more of life together.

Money raised through all your efforts will go to supporting a network of over 200 clubs. Phab clubs provide valuable support for families, and carers helping them overcome feelings of isolation. All members of the same family can belong to the same club and they are able to enjoy events and activities together and with others.

We are also going to be holding a silent auction and at present have a signed Arsenal football, signed England Rugby shirt along with other gifts kindly donated by various people. A full list will be available soon. If you are interested in receiving a list and would like to "silently bid" then please email scowell@dac.co.uk and place Silent Bid in the subject line of your email.
