Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page through which I hope to raise a massive amount of money for Get Kids Going.
Made it! The run was utterly exhausting mentally and physically – much more so than the training had prepared me for. Perhaps what hadn’t dawned on me fully was the impact of it being a very hilly marathon course and me not being naturally very svelte-like -not very bright really given that Isaac Newton had it figured out over three hundred years ago! Nevertheless it was a fantastic experience and one that I am very glad to have had the opportunity to complete.
As part of my Mid Life Crisis Therapy I set (perhaps on reflection, a little too publicly) a goal of doing a marathon when I was 40, and now that I have managed to survive that long, there is nowhere to hide!
Training for this event has resulted in the loss of 3 stones in weight, 6 toe nails, and most of my leisure time.... However on the flip side there have been exciting new experiences, like having an MRI scan and steroid injection on an injured hip, being electrocuted by the physio three times a week (apparently this is good for me...), becoming an ibuprofen addict, and having an account with my local running shop....With two weeks to go the finishing line is almost in sight!
What will make it all worth while is raising moey for Get Kids Going which is Seb Coe's charity that helps children and young people with disabilities to take part in sport. It is truly humbling to see what these guys achieve with the right support and their own huge drive to succeed. I have chosen this charity because it is easy to take life for granted when your main challenge in running a marathon is losing the blubber from years of self-inflicted over indulgence, rather than overcoming the huge hurdle of a disability given to you by chance of fate.
Please give as generously as you can - I hope to raise enough to pay for a sports wheelchair through your help.

Many thanks
