Story
I'm taking up the post of Chief Executive of Tree Aid from 18 June.
I'm really proud to be joining Tree Aid because it is a charity that makes a real difference to the poor in Africa and to protecting the environment by unlocking the potential of trees and forests.
I don't have a bike. I'm worryingly unfit and the route to me looks frighteningly hilly! I have pointed out that if the trip kills me I could be shortest serving Chief Executive on record! But I do want to show my support for the team of Tree Aid supporters who are prepared to go out and raise money to help families and communities in some of the poorest places in Africa.
Our overall aim is to raise £10,000. Just £100 can buy a bike so villagers can reach their fields, collect and carry water, take their children to school and take tree products to be sold at market. See more about Tree Aid's work at www.treeaid.org.uk
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to TreeAid and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
If you feel able to give something, I'd be extremely grateful.
