Story

Well we did it! Ahead of programme but not yet on budget!

We brought the date forward due to various issues to the 30th July, which also coincided with Carillion’s 10th birthday. The ascent of Ben Nevis was started at 6pm and we finished the descent 23hrs and 35 minutes later at 5.35pm on 31st July. Just 25 minutes to spare!

We completed the challenge properly by keeping to the speed limit with thanks to our bus’s 60mph speed limiter, and would have completed sooner if one of our team (Cough! Steve Ross) hadn’t decided to take a shortcut whilst most were asleep, down the M6 to Kendall instead of coming of at ! This could have been a blessing in disguise in the end as it meant we started Scafell at first light instead of in the dark.

The weather was fantastic until we hit Snowdon when we hit gale forced winds and driving rain, which only added to the pressure to complete in time. We completed each ascent and descent in the following times:

– 3hrs 45mins

Scafell – 3hrs 30mins

– 3hrs 5mins

A great big thankyou to everyone for all the sponsorship donated, we are a little off target but a final push should see us get there. If you haven’t already donated then please, please do, however little as what we have done is tiny compared to what the staff do at Claire House Hospice and at The Princes Trust.

We’d also especially like to thank the following:

Mike Smith our driver for the challenge. Thanks Mike we couldn’t of completed this without you. West Wallasey Bus & Van Hire for our van. She was home for 24hrs and never let us down! Carillion Fleet for sorting the above out. Thanks Yvonne. Parker Merchanting for the t-shirts, socks and head torches. Speedy Hire for the loan of some radios. SG Aluminium & Lyndon Scaffolding for some t-shirts. Ron Owen for the cakes (He was 64 on the 30th July!) and the loan of his Lancashire Hotpots CD for the van.

Hello there! Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

After four years of sitting on our backsides and talking about doing something for charity, we have decided, now that Piccadilly Place http://www.piccadillyplace.co.uk/#/homepage/ is sadly coming to a close, we would like to mark this occasion by completing the 3 Peaks Challenge for a couple of really worthy charities. Our task is to scale the summits of Ben Nevis,Scafell Pike and Snowden in 24 hours. Now that you have stopped laughing and wiped the tears from your cheeks, we would really appreciate your support.  Check out this website for more details of our task in hand. http://www.3peaks.info/info.html

Our main charity is Claire House Childrens Hospice based on The Wirral. Please look at the website and see the great work the people here do with terminally ill children and their families. http://www.claire-house.org.uk/

Our second charity is the Princes Trust which are Carillion's chosen charity this year. We all know the invaluable work this scheme achieves with young people and when we heard Carilions tie in we had to help as well. http://www.princes-trust.org.uk/

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Claire House Children's Hospice and the Princes Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please, please, please sponsor us now, your pledge however small WILL make a difference.
