Story
Well after 10 years of working…I have decided to take a 2 month break.
In my quest to do something different and raise some money I’m going to be spending the first month of November trekking from Dublin on the East Coast to the West Coast of Ireland and raising funds for The Smile Train. (More information below)
This is a 387 mile hike and broken down into 24 day stages, although I’ll be aiming to do it in 20.
This may seem pretty straightforward - however I’m doing this in November and just with Flora the dog so it’s likely to be quite a lonely and cold experience…although I’m sure that my TA days will come in hand with the navigation and kit carrying etc…
For those of you who have any holiday left this year or feel tempted to join me for a weekend… please please come and join.
My One Irish Friend Miss Maeve O’Reilly has expressed her concern about this trip in November with the constant rain, cold, darkness and remoteness of this area which I’ll be hiking through… so if that puts you off joining me then hopefully it will encourage you to give more!
There are 2 options to support me and The Smile Train:
1. http://www.justgiving.com/pollyannehooley Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Smile Train will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
2. Next Tuesday 23rd October – Fund Raising drinks at the Antelope upstairs. I’m afraid that due to the late notice this won’t be very exciting but more an opportunity to say goodbye to some of you who I’ll have less contact with in the future and an opportunity to raise additional funds.
