Rachel’s fundraising bike ride for Josie
Dear All,
I have been lucky enough to be invited by my friend Anne, as part of a group, to go to to celebrate her 50th birthday. She is paying for us all to go out there, so where’s the catch? Well, I can only go if I join the group in competing in the Argus Cycle Race. This is a 68 mile race which starts at sea level, then climbs some pretty steep hills (mountains??) all around before descending to the finish line. I am slightly apprehensive about this little adventure!
To spur me on I thought it would be a good opportunity to try and raise some money, in memory of my niece Josie. For those of you who don’t know, Josie (pictured above with my children) was sadly diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in September 2003. She fought against her illness with every shred of strength and dignity but tragically lost her battle on 25 April 2004, she was just 7 years old. After her death her parents decided that any money raised on her behalf should be donated to the Samantha Dickson Research Trust.
So thank you for visiting my fundraising page, please sponsor me for my big cycle ride. I’ve bought the padded shorts, acquired a new ‘’go faster’’ bike and am in training (sort of)!
Now for the technical bit:-
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust (SDBTT) will receive your money electronically and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.
All donations gratefully received.
Many thanks,
Rachel
