Story

Hello,

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

As you all know I’ve done a couple of 5k runs and my exercise routine is somewhat sporadic. So what am I doing going from that to a challenge that consists of trekking, kayaking and cycling for three days on the trot?

Well, when the Company I work for (Avanade) mentioned that they were getting teams together again for this years challenge, I thought, that sounds fun, a bit of a jolly in the countryside, bit of walking, cycling, camping, I quickly raised my hand and said “I will, sounds like a laugh”.  Then I saw what the 3 day “jolly” was really about:

Day 1 – 13 mile Hill Race, up to 14 mile Navigation Hike

Day 2 – 9 mile Kayaking, up to 10 mile Orienteering Trek, up to 29 mile Bike Orienteering

Day 3 – up to 26 mile Bike Challenge

I quickly put my hand down, made sure my name was removed from all lists and got on with my work.

Then we had our usual First Thursday Drinks, but this time with a twist. An Ambassador from the Prince’s Trust joined us and told us her story. A 15 year old from an abusive home who ended up with a 10 year jail sentence turned her life around with the support of The Prince’s Trust.  Inspired is an understatement of how her story moved me, suddenly I found my hand back in the air and was signing on the dotted line.

The Prince’s Trust has helped over 500,000 young people since 1976.  The Capgemini Wild Challenge is now in its third year and has so far raised enough money to support 397 vulnerable people turn their lives around.

So please, help me to help them, by sponsoring me to complete this amazing challenge, for an amazing charity.
