Story

The Microsoft Challengers Trophy is a breathtaking adventure that leaves team colleagues feeling exhilarated, refreshed and alive. By overcoming a series of diverse challenges, team colleagues learn about the power of teams and stretch their perception of what is possible.

Set in a stunning and varied landscape, team colleagues might find themselves running, mountain biking, zip wiring, traversing ravines, cracking codes, thinking strategically and having the time of their lives.

Both on land and water, by day and night, they need to work as a team to crack codes; make decisions under pressure; build engineering tasks, in different landscapes and all against the clock. It's high octane, decision-acute and reveals significant truths about the individual, those working with them and the dynamics of teamwork.

Please find below a brief update on the event:

The first event started at night, which involved the team cycling and navigating through the trenches of the Isle of Wight, only assisted by 1 nightlight per team member. During the event a member of LloydsTSB had had an accident and was left by the roadside with only her other 3 colleagues - We felt it was important to help the other team, rather than completing our 3rd destination. This resulted in us not completing the task. By showing this team sportsmanship we were not penalised, and were nominated for the most Sporting Team Award Each day we would face new challenges, from building a bridge to raise a flag to playing Mellious, a time strategy game to beat your opponent. The last day consisted of running over 15k before swimming 50 metres to then cycle 10k before running another 1.5k to the finishing line. Every single member played a vital part within the team and by combining our strengths together we came 96th out of 118 teams. We were also awarded the prize for the most amount of money raised by a single team. Since 1990 Challenger events have raised over £3,000,000 for charity. The event charity for the Microsoft Challengers Trophy is the NSPCC, which works to eradicate cruelty to children. By supporting the charity team colleagues can feel good in the knowledge that their participation is benefiting their career, their company and vulnerable and abused children.
