As a lot of you will know I was diagnosed with MS a couple of years ago. It came at a bit of a shock and took a while for me to get my head around it. However, after spending far too long feeling sorry for myself I’ve decided not to let it change my life if I can at all help it.

So, a year before the diagnosis I had a great time walking the coastal path from round to Padstow. Had a fantastic time and it’s the kind of thing that I haven’t been able to do much of over the past couple of years. However, I currently have more energy that I’ve had for a while so I’m going to take advantage of that and try to do the next bit of the walk – from Padstow to Minehead. I’m going to be travelling in the same way as before – carrying my tent and staying at campsites along the way. It’s 160 miles – about two weeks' worth of walking, well it is now as I won’t be able to walk as long distances as I did before. I’m also going to go the other way this time as I’m assured that finishing in Padstow would be much better than in Minehead. I'm going to start on the 10th July and take it from there, anyone who fancies joining me for a stetch of the walk would be very welcome.

In a way I feel a little cheeky asking for sponsorship for something that I’m going to enjoy doing, however it’s a good opportunity to raise money for the MS Society who have been a valuable support during the last couple of years. As well as all the expected charity stuff – funding MS research, running respite care centres, providing financial assistance – they’ve been a fantastic source of information about the wonderful world of MS and can’t think of a better cause that will make me carry on walking when I’m flagging.
