I will be running the Brighton Marathon in support of Molly's Smile Fund. This money will be used in the GICU unit at St. George's hospital. More information on Molly's story can be found at www.mollyssmilefund.org.

Running the equivalent length of the pier 80 times doesn't sound very fun, and as my marathon experience extends about as far as Lord of the rings I think I'm in for a treat. But thats only half the battle, giving up dominos is the real struggle. To see me go from a pudding to pulling my hamstring please give me a few quid.

Your donations will go towards a new project in the GICU. To help the talented nurses fund their advanced training in critical care.

    Much love xx

GICU Nurses at St Georges hospital deliver critical care for very ill patients and all money raised will go towards funding these vital roles. I appreciate everyone is often asked to donate to worthy causes so any amount will be gratefully received.

I am running in memory of Mollys Smile a local charity - more detail can be found at www.mollyssmilefund.org

I am training hard and to be honest finding it difficult to get my head around 26 miles so please make it worth while and give what you can.

    Thank you.

This year, I will be running the London Marathon to support Molly's Smile Fund.

Having run it twice , I know that it is an enormous challenge; however it is nothing compared to what life can throw at you. Read Molly's story for instance: http://mollyssmilefund.org/mollys-story/.

Molly's Smile Fund is an inspiring example of how we can make a contribution to society. By sponsoring me today, we can make a real difference for patients being treated at St George's hospital in the GICU unit. Their experience can be improved with your help.

We spent 44 days in Summer 2015 with a critically ill Molly in St. George’s Hospital Geeneral Intensive Care Unit. (GICU).  She was on life support fighting hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis causing multiple organ failure as a complication of glandular fever.

Teams of world class medics and support staff held us all up and threw everything at Molly during 6 relentlessly harrowing weeks for our daughter and for all of her family and friends.

We endured long times of stress, angst and sheer exhaustion when not bedside in the tired, dreary waiting room. Last year we opened a Molly's Smile funded makeover of bright seating, cheery murals and a drinks machine for this room.  There are books and magazines and a useful screen of information you need for the stay.

The view from this room occupies a huge window onto a grim and depressing inner roof space courtyard. We have long dreamt of a holistic transformation for this dismal, draining oblong.

Molly has smiled and somehow brought together another 'Molly powered' team of GICU staff, hospital designers and grounds staff, a former patients family and us at Molly's Smile Fund. We have a plan to build an oasis of calm and regeneration with succulent planting, rockeries, astro turf circles, stones and a glass dome centrepiece.

Putney Art School are building sculptural ceramic pod totem poles lead by the daughter of a former patient who's outcome was a happy one. They will be a major feature in cool, calming colours, thought provoking patterns and textures for a frazzled and tired GICU community. The space will be a creative talking point to distract or a relaxing meditational vista close to very sick loved ones.

Now we need funds to build the garden please. We want to further soften and enhance the truly harrowing and sometimes visceral experience that is life saving medicine and sometimes end of life care in this loving unit.  A room with a view would be a nerve calming welcome and enlightening addition to this amazing place.

Molly was just 19 when she died in the unit, a year off qualifying to be a primary school teacher and at the springtime of her life. She would love to brighten lives and soften harsh moments for people in the hardest of times. Please help us to keep her smiling and share her warmth and generosity and continue her amazing legacy.

My daughter Molly was full of life - she lived it to its full potential.

Even at the young age of 19 she was mature beyond her years and realised how precious life was.

    http://mollyssmilefund.org

Unfortunately she became suddenly unwell and as such needed the care and attention of St Georges critical care unit - she succumbed to various conditions arising from HLH which is a very rare disease of the immune system after a few short weeks.

During her treatment at St Georges we experienced the incredible care and expertise that the ICU department had to offer.

As such we are now raising funds for the department which can be used for additional equipment to ensure that subsequent patients can benefit.

On 1st July 2015, my best mate Charlie lost his beloved daughter, Molly, after a short and devastating illness. Molly was my God daughter and was just 19 years of age. Molly was such a beautiful young girl with an enormous heart, and a presence that touched a lot of people, both young and old.

Molly’s Smile Fund was set up by her family and friends as a memorial and tribute to Molly.

This year Charlie and I are taking part in July’s Prudential RideLondon 100 to raise funds for St Georges Hospital Charity on behalf of Molly’s Smile Fund.

RideLondon is a 100 mile cycle sportive that starts from the Olympic Park at Stratford, and goes out into the Surrey Hills following some of the 2012 Olympic road race course, before finishing on the Mall.

The money raised by Charlie and I will be used to directly benefit patients and their families using the Intensive Care Unit at St George’s Hospital. It’s our hope that other families will have better outcomes in Molly’s name.

In this way, Molly’s beautiful smile will continue to live on.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the St George’s Hospital charity.

As lecturers at St Mary's University, many of us had the privilege of working with Molly; we remember Molly's smile, sense of fun and infectious enthusiasm.

In May 2015, Molly became unwell and specialists at St George's Hospital diagnosed Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH).  Sadly, after 6 weeks battling on life support, Molly passed away.

Since then, Molly's Smile Fund has raised an amazing amount of money which is a real tribute to the way Molly touched so many lives.

Inspired by the Burdett family and Molly's friends, we have signed up to complete a triathlon at Leeds Castle, on June 25th, in memory of Molly.

Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page; we really appreciate your donation and support.

    Smile on.

A dear friend, Jane, sadly lost her eldest daughter, Molly, last summer to a rare disease called Haemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis. It's a blood disease that destroys and attacks the body causing multiple organ failure. Molly was initially diagnosed with glandular fever in May but her condition quickly deteriorated and was admitted to the GICU at St George's Hospital in South West London. Despite the best efforts of the team of specialist, nurses and support staff who helped Molly, she sadly passed away six weeks later. She was just 19 years old.

I knew Molly through Jane and admit that although I didn't know her well she was always full of the joys of life, enthusiastic, loved playing with my children and had a beautiful warm smile.

To help raise funds for St Georges Hospital I'm running two marathons in two weeks, Manchester on the 10th of April and London a fortnight later. The funds raised with help provide resources for the team and enhance the care they provide. I've run a few marathons many years ago. It's tough but now having a family of my own has made fitting in training miles challenging but more importantly, given me a sense of how devastating the loss of a child might feel.

Please donate generously to help Molly keep smiling.

Molly was one of the first friends I made in Old House Halls at St Mary's University in September 2013. I could always rely on Molly to join me in watching EastEnders, without fail. I think everyone who lived in Old House would agree that Molly brought a lot of entertainment to our time in halls! Molly was a laugh a minute and a smile a second, just lovely and 'wonderfully silly!' Whether we knew her from halls, lectures or otherwise, she'll always be part of our St Mary's journey. In May 2015, after completing her second year of study at uni, Molly became unwell, the team of specialists at St George's GICU made the diagnosis of Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), sadly after 6 weeks battling on life support Molly passed away. I'm completing this skydive in memory of Molly, hoping to add to the amazing amount which has already been raised by Molly's family and friends. Thank you for visiting my justgiving page, your donation means a lot to myself and the Burdett family. Molly will forever be in our hearts. Xxx

Anna and David are running the Eastbourne half marathon on Sunday 6th of March in memory of Anna’s childhood friend Molly Burdett.

Molly and Anna were very close friends having grown up together in Wimbledon. They attended the same schools and spent many happy hours together watching endless reality TV shows; eating pesto pasta and spending time in South Park Gardens. When Anna moved to Eastbourne in 2009 they remained close and added Eastbourne Pier to their activities.

Molly had just completed her second year at St Mary’s Twickenham studying to be a primary school teacher.

Normally fit and well Molly became very ill in May 2015. She was admitted to intensive care in St George’s Hospital and diagnosed with the rare blood disease Haemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis. After a very brave fight and despite receiving fantastic care Molly very sadly passed away 6 weeks later.

We are raising money to support the St Georges Hospital charity providing extra funds for the dedicated GICU team. This charity is supported by Molly’s Family and nearly £30,000 has already been raised in her memory.

This is something neither of us have done before (or not in the last 30 years) so any donations however big or small will be greatly appreciated!

In May 2015 Molly was full of smiles but exhausted. She had a sore throat, a headache and a badly blocked nose. She was having difficulty breathing, so we went to St George's hospital and within a couple of days we were in St James wing GICU.

Within a week , we were told she had a life threatening disease, Haemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis. This is a rare blood disease that destroys and attacks anything and everything indiscriminately and unpredictably. The GICU became our home as we watched unrivalled dedication and teams of specialists, nurses and supporting staff fight so hard to save Molly's life. Molly battled on life support for 6 grueling weeks of chemotherapy and complex care. We lost her on July 1.  She was 19.

We have chosen these charities so that the GICU can get what they need for early diagnosis and that research can be funded to try to find a cure.

This is our lasting legacy to an undilutedly gorgeous girl and a means of holding her energy in the preseant and keeping her smile eternal in or lives whilst helping others.

We have chosen to support the St George's GICU charity and funds raised will be utilized to provide additional resources for the dedicated teams of highly trained critical care professionals with anything that will enhance the already amazing care they provide. We would also like to further improve the difficult and highly stressful GICU experience for patients and their families. This will keep Molly smiling.
