Story

This is our son Richard.  He would have been 18 on the 22nd April this year.  He wanted a big party for all his family and friends and was looking forward to it very much.  I promised him once Christmas was over this year we would begin planning it. Sadly, this was not to be.....

Richard died on 3rd August last year.  He died of SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death In Epilepsy)
It was, as you can imagine the most unbearable thing that could happen.  Emergency services—in particular BASICS (doctors & paramedics who attend along side, and often before the emergency services) tried all they could to save our beautiful son, but tragically could not.

His birthday is fast approaching. We could sit at home and feel sad, remembering what a fabulous son we had or we could do something positive in his name.

We have decided to hold a sponsored walk in his memory.  We are walking around the beautiful Buttermere Lake.  It is 4.5 miles in total, so not too far. The money raised will be split between Richard’s memorial fund with Epilepsy Research UK and BASICS based at West Cumberland Hospital...this page will directly give to the Epilepsy Research UK Charity.

Richard would have liked the idea of helping others fight epilepsy, he suffered so many seizures in the last few years which also had a detrimental effect on his everyday life.  I am sure he would also be very grateful to those who tried so hard to keep him with us.

If you are in the area we will be setting off on our walk at 2pm on the 24th April 2010...if not please dig deep in your pockets and help us raise money in memory of Richard!

Thank you.
