Story
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page!
Well I'm pleased to report that we did managed to complete our sponsored cycle as planned.
If you'd like to see how we got on take a look at the photos on the following link:
RICHARD
My son Tom has been nagging me for a while for us to do some kind of sponsored event. At around the same time I got talking to one of my colleages at work who told me of a charity they have joined forces with to provide an orphanage in Kenya, for children whose parents have died of Aids.
It really is quite an inspiring story. While on holiday in Kenya, this one family from the UK went on a tourist trip to get a taste of normal village life. From the sounds of things they stepped off the official tourist route and discovered this group of children without parents; all relying on the good will of the local minister, who was struggling to provide even basic accommodation for them, let alone food, medicine and schooling.
They've done really well in less than a year and it would be great if any of you could spare a few £ to help them along the way.
I've posted some slides on the following link so you can see the impact this is already having:

EVENT
Tom and I are proposing to cycle from Milton Keynes to Market Harborough. I used to do a fair bit of cycling in my youth, but my 25 year old bike is looking a little bit worse for wear so I can assure you I will suffer! In fact , my daughter refers to my bike as the Penny Farthing....
We'll be doing this on Fri 29th August. I estimate it will be between 45 and 50 miles in total so it's certainly a reasonable distance for an 11 year old and an unfit IT Manager on an old crock
TOM
I`m really exited because we`re going to do the whole cycle in just a day. Also, at the end we will hopefully stop of at my Dads friends house [they have a trampoline (yay!)]. This will make me and lots of poor other kids happy. So pleeeeeaaaaase donate.
