We offer care, support and information to anyone affected by breast cancer

Story

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.  I am going to be running the Paris Marathon on April 10th 2011 for Breast Cancer Care and I would really be grateful if you would take the time to sponsor me.

I personally prefer this way of raising sponsor money through a website as I wouldn’t want to put anyone under any pressure to donate in these bad economic times but any donation anybody does make would be much appreciated (small or large).

As many of you are aware my mother Janice Field has had breast cancer already and after battling through this 7 years later unfortunately has contracted secondary breast cancer in the lungs and liver.  Although the disease is not curable it is treatable and she is doing extremely well with medication along with the support from the NHS, breast cancer care and her close family and friends.

The main aim with the treatment is to relieve the symptoms and improve the quality of life by slowing down the growth of the cancer. There are many treatments that can keep the cancer under control and often for many years.

I want to run this marathon not only to help raise some money for the charity but also to raise awareness about secondary breast cancer in general, which a lot of people seem not to have heard of or not understand.

The money goes towards providing information and offering emotional and practical support, bringing people affected by breast cancer together, campaigning for improvement in standards of support and care and promoting the importance of early detection.

Their main aim is to bring every person affected by breast cancer to get the best treatment, information and support so it’s vitally important for sufferers.
In terms of running background as you probably know I am not a professional runner but I have ran the London marathon before so there’s no excuse’s for me not to complete this task.  I have been running, swimming and I do like keeping fit and active in general through playing football and other sporting activities.

The marathon will be 26.2 miles long and I know this will be a tough challenge with all the training that I will have to do in preparation but with your continued encouragement and support I know I can do it for this important cause.
I am currently doing four runs a week including playing football and swimming.  I welcome anyone who wants to join me in the running to let me know - although I don’t hold my breath on this one!

On behalf of myself, my mother and breast cancer care I want to thank you all in advance for your support and generosity.
