Story
A big THANKS to all who have supported us!
As some of you already know, Chris (husband to Elaine and father to Angus, Sophie, Olivia and by marriage Steven and Eugene!) was diagnosed with a rare GIST tumour in November 2007 - since then he has been under the care of the valiant staff at the Christie Hospital, without whose expertise he might no longer be with us.
The Rickman family would like to give something back to this pioneering and incredible hospital and ask for your support as we undertake an ambitious (and hopefully not foolish!) charity climb!
In June we are returning to the Yorkshire Dales, home of countless childhood holidays and full of fond memories. We aim to climb Ingleborough the 2nd highest peak in the Yorkshire Dales National Park - the route we propose to take is around 10 miles and a hard climb up to 2,346 feet, 723 metres. This is no mean feat considering the last time an ascent of this nature was made by this particular family team was a good many years ago and we are all older, and far less fit!
And, as if he's not doing enough already, Chris has just started training for the Manchester to Blackpool Bike ride - a wopping 60 miles on his bicycle - also in aid of The Christie Hospital. The ride is on Sunday 13 July starting at 08:30 in Albert Square Manchester and finishing (sometime!) at the Mirror Ball on the South Promenade, Blackpool.
Please support us with as much or as little as you can - the cause is a very worthy one and we would love to see our efforts rewarded with a handsome sum for the Christie!
Thanks so much
P.S. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor : Christie's will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
