Story

thanks for clicking my link...

This August I'll be joining 9 other bikers on a 3,500 mile bike journey to Chernobyl, the site of the world's worst nuclear disaster. The trip will take 15 days riding through Holland, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland and into the Ukraine. In Belarus we will visit the main children's charities involved with the disaster.

From the atmosphere and food chain the children of Belarus are exposed to radiation 40% above permissible levels. Their immune systems are considerably reduced, as is their average life expectancy of just 32. Thyroid cancer has increased by 3000%.

My wife Sara and I support a local charity who bring around 14 Belarussian children to the UK each year for one month of fresh air, fresh food, days out and essential medical checks. Each child stays with a local host family who can care for them, Ania who is 7 stays with us.

They return home with their immune systems boosted and their little suitcases full of clothes, gifts and a years supply of vitamins. Each annual visit can extend their life expectancy by around 2 to 3 years.

On this charity ride, the bikers are covering ALL of their expenses so that every penny of fundraising can go to the charity. So please sponsor me, enabling next years visit and the continued health and happiness of these little lives...

thankyou very much
