We Raise funds for Schools and fresh Water to Provide much needed education in Kashmir

Story

What am I doing?

Just like every year, with the help of volunteers, me and my brother are organising a sponsored trek to take up to 40 people  young and old to help KRDF continue maintain the schools rebuilt in Kashmir after the Earthquake in 2005.

This year I am looking to climb Snowdon twice in one day!

Having been in Kashmir in 2005 when the earthquake took place, it was a shock to the system to see the large scale of damage caused in the areas in Kashmir and gave me extra motivation to be able to help those who have suffered.

What is KRDF?

Established in 2005 by my late father Zafar Sharif, after the devastating earthquake that left over 70,000 people dead and almost all education infrastructure destroyed, we have successfully built SEVEN schools for children, helped thousands of women by providing them free vocational training and have helped many remote areas by providing fresh water supply. A lot of the areas we have rebuilt the schools in are remote areas with no access via car or train. These are the area where very few charities have been able to reach and we are proud to be able to provide free education facilities as well as water supply facilities in these areas.

The Charity has been a great success so far, but in order for it to grow, we would like your support!

Soooo that's why we've organised this trek up Wales' highest mountain to raise money for such a great cause.

Where does your money go?

The money you donate will help fund the schools that are currently running. To give a breakdown of how the money is spent:

  • A child’s education for a month costs £20
  • A teachers salary for a month costs £50
  • Furniture for classroom £350

Any donation big or small is really really appreciated, so please sponsor us today.

About the charity

Kashmir Relief & Development Foundation (KRDF) is a UK- based (Waltham Forest) registered charity that provides free education in remote areas of Kashmir. Established in 2005 after the devastating earthquake that left over 70,000 people dead and almost all education infrastructure destroyed, we have successfully built schools for children, helped thousands of women by providing them free vocational training and have helped many remote areas by providing fresh water supply. OUR MISSION: KRDF strives to empower individuals especially those who are in dire need of help by providing them with quality education. We aim to be at the forefront of empowering women and helping to make them self reliant. We also endeavour to transform lives by improving access to safe water in remote areas. We identify remote areas in Kashmir and develop facilities to educate the children to the best standard possible.
