We are a 24 hour search & rescue service to save lives at sea

Story

Welcome to the Fundraising Page for Leasedrive Velo's Wokingham to Le Mans Bike Ride

Leasedrive Velo has organised a team of 17 riders to participate in a 261-mile group charity bike ride from Wokingham, Berkshire to Le Mans, France this coming June in aid of The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).  The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea and works to promote sea and beach safety. They provide a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service around the coasts of the UK and RoI, as well as a seasonal lifeguard service on many of the busiest beaches in England and Wales.

The team are all aiming to raise a combined minimum total of £2,500 and includes: Paul Newman, Karen Bowen, Matt Lenton, Matt Boxsey, Tim Howett, Sarah Simmonds, Richard Simmonds, Jeremy Snook, Jonathan Apps, Ed Pigg, John Wilson, Jason Zimmer, John Evans, Jim Crooks, Steve Harris and John Whitmarsh.

The Challenge

The team will start from Leasedrive Velo's offices in Wokingham at 6.00am on Saturday June 26 and will ride 53.8 miles to Portsmouth before catching a ferry to Cherburg, where we will stay overnight.

Day two will start painfully for most at a more civilised 9.00am and will cover 71.5 miles between Cherburg and Granville.

Day three will be all about getting through the day and will see the team ride 71.4 miles between Granville and Laval.

The final day from Laval is a mere 64.3 miles into Le Mans.

After celebrations and a much deserved rest, the team will return home by minibus on Wednesday, June 30.
