THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HELPED REACH THE £600 TARGET - LETS PUSH ON FOR £750+.
Thanks you all so much.
In 2009 I ran the Birmingham half marathon and raised over £1200 for The Household Cavalry Operational Casulaties Fund. I completed the 13.1 miles in 1 hour and 42 mins.
This year, as always in memory of my brother Trp. James Munday, I will be running the Birmingham half marathon again. This time looking to raise money for Troop Aid and hopefully, looking to beat my previous time!
Troop Aid were founded in November 2006 and provide returning injured soldiers with the basic supplies required to ensure that their home coming is more comfortable. Injured soldiers often return home without any personal clothes or belonging and Troop Aid ensure a 'Grab bag' which contains the following: washing and shaving kit, towel, face flannel, shower mules, socks, underwear, t-shirt and shorts. Female requirements are also provided.
Troop Aid's funds come entirely from fund raising events and donations from organisations such as Help for Heroes, Rotary International, Lions International, Masonic Lodges, The Monday Club in Kuwait, ex Service Associations, the local business community, the general public and several British expatriate communities overseas. They will continue to help our Troops returning from conflicts for as long as possible.
Although Help for Heroes fund organisations such as Troop Aid, I wanted to raise money directly as I feel that the public should be made aware of excellent (local) charities like this one that bring so much to the returning soldiers.
With the cost of a 'Grab Bag' averaging around £25, I am looking to raise at least £500 to be able to supply 20 returning soliders with the basic essentials until they are reunited with their personal belonging, which can take weeks.
The fact that these basic essentials are not funded and provided by the government in the first instance is the reason why supporting this excellent charity, Troop Aid, is so important to me.
