We help blind and partially sighted people to break down the barriers of sight loss

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I completed the 2008 marathon in 4:13:30 battling through the hail-storm down the embankment! Total Funds raised for the RNIB was over £3,000 so thanks to everyone who sponsored me. Training now for 2009 to get under the 4 hour mark and raise some more.

My Dad is 81 and started losing his sight last year as a result of Age-related macular degeneration which is the most common cause of blindness in the UK. In a short space of time he went from driving regularly to being unable to read and was subsequently registered blind. Having been a chauffeur most of his life giving up his car was really tough. My Dad is a bit of a character and during his career drove many famous people; Winston Churchill, Marilyn Monroe, King Hussain of Jordan, Joan Crawford, Sophia Loren, Bob Hope, Albert Finney and others from that era. He's got lots of memorabilia - pictures and autographs etc - which he sadly can't see now but still has some good stories to reminisce
over. I'm running for the RNIB which is the UK's leading charity supporting over two million people with sight loss.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: RNIB will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.

About the charity

Every day 250 people in the UK start losing their sight. With your help, we can be there when people need us most, support independent living, create an inclusive society and prevent avoidable sight loss. Every pound you raise will help create a future where sight loss is no longer a barrier.
