My triathlon Charity Challenge  for Cancer Research UK is designed to link (loosely) with the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow as well as my current job in the Commonwealth Games Delivery Team within DWP.  I plan to cycle to 71 DWP offices across Scotland between 9th and 16th May - roughly 400 miles and taking me as far north as Dundee and Perth.  The number 71 has been chosen specifically to reflect the number of countries competing at Glasgow this summer.

I also plan to run a total of 20 miles before the end of May (not all in one go I'm afraid - those days are long gone and they ain't ever coming back!).  I'll run (jog?) a mixture of 5 & 10ks - in secret locations! - until I've got beyond 20 miles.  Glasgow will be the 20th Commonwealth Games to be held - hence that number of miles.

Finally, I plan to swim one mile (yes, all in one go!) - I've opted for that distance as its about 3/4 of a mile further than I've ever swam before and might take about the same time to complete as cycling to  71 offices!

There will be very few of us who will not know someone who has been affected in some way by cancer, and my triathlon is designed to raise money to help fund the terrific work being done to try and beat it once and for all.  Please donate what you can - no matter how little - to support the work of Cancer Research UK as well as, of course, making my saddle sores, blistered feet and embarrassingly inept swimming style all worthwhile.
