SUNDERLAND 10 MILE WALK - JUNE 14TH 2009

Welcome to my fundraising page for Diabetes UK. I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, just over a Year and a half ago. So this got me thinking and totally changed my life.

I have Stopped Smoking since November 5^th, 2008 and decided to lose weight rather than putting on weight when you stop smoking!! a I have started walking a lot more and feel the benefits of a healthier me. (Lost almost 2 stone in weight already, since January 2009)

I have made some good friends through Facebook and we now walk every Wednesday night, in South Shields, from the Marsden Grotto to the South Shields Pier and back again. (if ever you want to join us, Donate on here (this will give me your email address hehe, and I will mail you back)

I decided to sign up for the walk, because I am also doing the Great North Run this year (www.justgiving.com/rob_seales_gnr as I am 40 this year and want to do it at least once!) so thought this year would be good time to start !

2009 is a Year to change, if you are still smoking, you can stop!!! If you are feeling unfit and unhealthy, go for a 10 minute walk, then increase the time every time you go out. Don’t overdo it, so that you get sick ! at the moment I am enjoying the walking, the swimming and the bicycle rides and feeling better for not smoking…

If you can sponsor as much as you can afford, then every step will be worth every penny.
