Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Thirty five years ago this year, our daughter Hannah Jane was born. Not long after her birth she was diagnosed as having been born with Spina Bifida. She was rushed from The Isle of Wight to Southampton General Hospital intensive care baby unit where she was given fantastic care. She had several operations to repair the damage to her back and also had a drain fitted to her head prevent Hydrocephalus. After five weeks and a Christmas in hospital she came home.
Sadly she died in her sleep of natural causes one week later.
As a school boy I was a good distance runner and always wanted to compete in a marathon however life took over and I never got there. Last year I agreed to support Kaye Devereux in her training for the 10k and got hooked on running again. Thank you Kaye.
My challenge is to complete my first half marathon before I am fifty five(August) and then go on to complete a full marathon and finally attempt to complete the Green Man Ultra marathon on New Years Eve. A 46 mile mixed terrain event around the outskirts of Bristol.
This challenge is in memory of Hannah Jane and any funds raised will go to this great charity that supports Families and Children with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus.
Thanks to Angie, JPC for his inspiration and Steve for the training programme and support.
Thank you in advance to all of you for reading this and your donations.
