Story

22.04.07

Team Ronan had a run of bad luck leading up to the race with Ronan, Barrie & Dave all having to pull out after sustaining various injuries. That left Mark to carry the flag on behalf of the team and Cancer Research UK. He ran a personal best of 3:34:08 in what was one of the hotest Marathon's ever.

Ronan started the race and live on BBC promised to run next year! Thanks for all your kind donations and roll on 2008...

Ronan has unfortunately had to pull out of running this year's Flora London Marathon. He will however be there at the start line on Sunday as he has been asked to act as the official starter for the race. After suffering severe back pain during recent training runs Ronan was forced to take medical advice from back specialists in Dublin. They have advised that he defers his participation to 2008. This will give him time to sort out his back problem and then put in the necessary training for the 26.2 mile run.
Ronan says, 'I'm gutted that I've been forced to pull out of this year's Flora London Marathon. I have been in agony with back pain over the past couple of weeks so am determined to sort my back so that I can post a good time in 2008 and honour the pledges people have made. As part of 'Team Ronan', my manager, Mark Plunkett and I have received many kind donations of support for our Cancer Research UK fund raising efforts at www.justgiving.com/ronan I'm sure that Mark and my team mates will carry the flag in great style and I am honoured that I will be able to wave them off on Sunday morning in my roll as the official starter for this year's Flora London Marathon'.
