Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. (this is now looking like a Blog!...wasn't planned...scroll down for the whole story)

Update 8th Jan - due to incredible generosity of everyone concerned have moved the target up to £3000 and this has now been exceeded which is just fantastic, and great to know that it all goes to support the work of MacMillan Cancer Support.

Update 1st Nov - what an amazing experience to cross the finish line of the the biggest and best Marathon in the world. Fantastic feeling to have completed it, from Statten Island to Central Park and through all 5 NY boroughs, over 5  bridges, with unbelieveable support from the people of New York (esp Brooklyn) for the whole 26 .2 miles!! and must mention the fantastic support from the MacMillan's Team (particularly Sue and Alice) - but at the end of the day we're all in it for Cancer Support - so please help if you can!!

Update 26th Oct - have reached 90% of target which is amazing, and with 6 days to go 'til the big day nerves are kicking in but your support gives me inspiration to keep going. A special thank you to all the offline sponsors and I promise I'll print your names on this page after the run is done.

Update 14th Oct - clever people at MacMillan have put my name on my running shirt in case I get lost..how thoughtful..(see new picture!).... Great to see that your generous donations will raise almost £300 additional support through Gift Aid that will go directly to Mac Millan Cancer Support.

Update 11th Oct - amazing! nearly 80% there, big thanks to all. Still tramping the streets Glasgow with my faithful companion - iPod. Real motivational tunes, anything goes - ac/dc, tom sloss, U2, springsteen, saw doctors, vatersay bhoys, sounds of kilpheadair ,cathie ann macphee...ok... that's pushing it!!

Update 11th Sep - over half way there thanks to your fantastic generosity. Half Marathon was enjoyable and time was ok - so New York will just be like doing that -  and then doing it again. Help!!!!

Update 1st Sep.- training going well, even if summer's over, actually enjoy running in the Scottish rain. Long runs can be lonely but so far I'm injury free. Warm up on Sun 6th at Glasgow half marathon so look forward to that. Big thank you to all the fantastic souls who have helped so far.

MacMillan Cancer Support is close to the heart of many of us. There are around 2 million people in the UK who are living with cancer, and most of us know someone who's been affected.

My challenge is to complete the New York City marathon and no doubt there'll be a lot of aches and pains on the way.  I know we're all feeling the financial strain right now ,but if you can, please follow your heart and give as much as you can to help this fantastic charity carry on the great work -  every single £1.00 counts.

If you received this unexpectedly or inadvertedly I'll apologise in advance if it's not appropriate or if I have already got your committment. Please please pass this on to anyone you know is interested in helping this worthy cause - or just anyone you know -  remember it's for the benefit of MacMillan and their dedicated team.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Macmillan Cancer Support gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Don't forget - for most of us - today is a gift - that's why it's called the present.

Thank You     Thank You     Thank You
