Story

Hello all

Thank you lots for visiting my fundraising page.  You may remember that I ran the London Marathon in 2009 in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital as my small way to say a massive thank you to the highly skilled and kind doctors, nurses, play specialists and everyone who has been part of Scarlet's treatment.

Scarlet (Red to us) was diagnosed at just 12 weeks old with cancer of the eye, this was totally unexpected after a normal healthy pregnancy, wonderful home birth and no history in the family.  It was a massive shock for all the family.  She had chemotherapy for 6 months at Great Ormond Street.  They were wonderful to such a young baby and the staff kept us smiling through the toughest time of our lives.

We will never be able to repay the huge cost of operations, drugs, equipment and staff time but we would like to do a small something to express our thanks.  After raising over 4k in sponsorship and smashing my 3k target I have decided to keep this page open as many people are still raising money in Scarlet's name.   I won't be running this year as I am busy cooking a little brother or sister for her!

Red is just over 2 years now and is a happy, cheerful, giggly, sweet girl.  She keeps us busy and is very entertaining!  She still has regular check ups and treatment to stop the tumors growing.  She has been a very brave little lady and is one tough cookie! In just over 2 years she has had around 17 general anaesthetics!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity (GOSHCC) gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
