Story
Thank you very much for visiting this fundraising page.
Since Claire Epstein died in February 2009, the many people who loved her and were close to her have found her tragic passing incredibly hard to come to terms with. All who knew the beautiful, witty, selflessly caring and highly talented Dr Epstein agree that she was more than a special person - she had a unique presence which makes her absence all the more palpable. Claire's obituary in the Journal of Emergency Medicine can be read here: http://emj.bmj.com/cgi/data/26/5/DC1/1.
David Lewis, together with his brave friends Marc Woolfson and Lee Manstoff will be getting fit over the summer and running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London on Sunday 11th October 2009 in Claire's memory and to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK, a charity committed to raising awareness of bowel cancer and how it can affect young people as well as old.
Please sponsor David, Marc and Lee and raise some money for this good cause. Any amount will do. If you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. Your money is being specially ring-fenced for Bowel Cancer UK's Young Persons awareness campaign.
Thank you.
David, Marc and Lee
Update: Ray day has passed - Thanks for all your support! It's really great how generous people have been. Together with the money Claire's brother Michael has raised for Cancer Research UK, we've raised over £10,000 for cancer charities.
The race went really well - we all did it in very good sub-2 hour times and had a great day. I think we definitely did Claire proud. Thanks again for your generosity.
