Story

On Sunday 22nd April I ran in the London Marathon (in partnership with my training partner John Wigens) to raise money for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), in memory of my fiancée Jane Starr, who died suddenly on 17th May 2006, aged just 33.

Jane's cause of death was confirmed in January as the rare heart condition known as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Every week in the UK eight apparently fit and healthy young people like Jane die from undiagnosed heart conditions, and CRY are committed to reducing these losses in future.

Despite being persuaded to run in this costume, I eventually managed to stagger round the course, in a time of 3:29:39.

Please donate generously!
