In 2006, my Dad was diagnosed with myeloma, a bone marrow cancer. He underwent a year of treatment, including 5 months of chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant. Treatments for myeloma can be effective at slowing its progress, but there is no cure. My Dad's myeloma is now back and he is in the middle of another course of chemo.
MYELOMA UK is a major force in research and campaigning for new treatments, as well as providing support and information for patients. They alone were responsible for persuading NICE to accept two new life-prolongling drugs previously unavailable in the UK. As MYELOMA UK is so very valuable to myeloma patients, I wanted to do something to raise funds - what better challenge than a marathon. So please give generously.
