Story
I said goodbye to my dear Grandad for the final time in June 2015. Ray Veal was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather; a respected businessman; and a good friend. He is greatly missed by all that knew him.
During his life, my Grandad endeavoured to live by a set of principles learned during World War II:
'I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good, therefore that I can do, or any kindness I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.'
My Grandad passed away after bravely battling cancer for many years. During this time, cancer ravaged his body and damaged his confidence, but it never shook his sense of humour or terrific outlook on life.
I admire my Grandad so very deeply, and will be tackling the Bath Half Marathon dressed as Spider-Man once again in his memory. I know it brought a smile to his face when I did it last year, and this time, I'll be raising money for a cause very close to my heart - to help MacMillan's mission of improving the lives of everyone living with cancer.
I'll be #RunningForRay. Please sponsor me if you can. Thank you.
