We provide specialist support services to help woman survivors of sexual violence

Story

On the 8th of March we will be running the Cambridge Half Marathon in aid of the Cambridge Rape Crisis Centre.

The Cambridge Rape Crisis Centre offers support to women and girls who have experienced rape, childhood sexual abuse or any other form of sexual violence.

In the past few years, more than ever before, women have begun to talk about their experiences of sexual violence. We have learnt that to stay silent does not always protect you or anyone else, that it does not make the past disappear and it does not return the power that has been taken from you. However, to speak the truth can be terrifying, putting into words what you have been trying to detach yourself from for so long can make you feel scared, ashamed and very isolated. Therefore support is crucial and organisations such as the Cambridge Rape Crisis Centre are vital sources of information and guidance - not just for the survivor but also for their friends and family.

We are running this race not just to raise money for the Cambridge Rape Crisis Centre but also to raise awareness about the importance of these kinds of organisations, for anyone who might need them.

About the charity

We provide life-changing support services for women and girls across Cambridgeshire who have been subjected to any form of sexual violence and abuse, at any time in their lives. With your help, we can support even more women and girls to survive and thrive.
