Story
17/06/2012, 6pm: Delighted to have completed the 2 mile event at the Great East Swim this morning. It was postponed from yesterday due to high wind and was still rough today but I managed to finish without getting too exhausted or cold (water 13.5 degrees.) Many thanks for the support from all my sponsors and friends. I reckon this really is the last time!
Each year I try to take on a tougher challenge and this year I aim to swim further in open water than I have ever done before. I will be doing the Great East Swim in Suffolk on Saturday 16 June but instead of the usual one mile distance, I will be going 2 miles for the first time. It is now compulsory for wetsuits to be worn at all Great Swims so no more cold water endurance! I will be trying out a new training venue at a water sports centre near Reading.
The Brooke does fantastic work providing practical animal welfare assistance and education to some of the world's poorest communities so their working horses, donkeys and mules are maintained in the best possible health. Your can be sure that your donation will make a real difference to these animals and the lives of the people who rely on them so any amount is worthwhile.
Many thanks for your support.
